A Life In Movement | A Story To Tell

Artistry

For over a decade, I enjoyed a vibrant career performing, choreographing, teaching, directing dance films, and working in the commercial industry as talent for print, television, and intranet.

Today, I continue to work as a dancepreneur, choreographer, commercial talent, and the driving force of my online business, VG Talent & Services.

Design

I began my digital business design journey at the University of Kansas. As a dance major, we were challenged to create digital portfolios to promote our artistic endeavors. This launched me into the world of design, branding, marketing, and digital services.

Over the years as a digital business designer, I’ve developed my own “secret sauce” to help provide talent and clients with the best digital strategies and solutions for their career or business.

  • “Vashti is a joy to work with!

She brings a great deal of experience, skill and creativity to her art that immediately elevates the work. She can take very specific direction or improvise on her own accord - creating a very rich environment for collaboration. I also appreciate her personal style that she brings to her art."

    - Doug Johnston, Director/Filmmaker

  • "Vashti had good positive energy and more...

Vashti showed up to the shoot prepared and ready to go! She worked well, following all instructions, making a potentially stressful shoot, a piece of cake. My photographer and other crew members enjoyed working with Vashti on the set. She helped make the the atmosphere very conducive to a positive outcome. Vashti had good positive energy and more, she demonstrated all the professional we only could hope for! She over delivered. Vashti's ability to ad lib proved exceptional and as a result we hit a home run for our client! I would not hesitate to hire her again and again."

    - Tom LoChiatto, President/Producer/Director/ MDR Television

  • "She was very receptive to direction, open to critique...

I had the pleasure of working with Vashti for a series of car commercials. She provided on camera and voiceover work. She was well prepared every time she came to the TV station. She was very receptive to direction, open to critique regarding read style and inflection. Scheduling production times with her was easy. She was able to come in when quick spot changes were needed. I would definitely work with Vashti again."

    - E. Seidel, Commercial Producer

  • "Vashti, thank you for your stunning performance...

At Harbour Hope’s Black and White Gala. Your storytelling through dance is a powerful tool and was an incredible aid in moving hearts to action in the fight to end human trafficking. It is because of the talent and generosity of you, and others like you, that we are able to move forward in this important way. We are forever grateful.”

A Life In Movement | A Story To Tell

How It Started

For as long as I can remember my life has been an external expression of an internal impulse to move and make stories.

I remember playing with a friend as a child, and she asked me, “What do you want to be when you grow up.” I said, “I want to be a ballerina.” She replied, “No. Really, what do you want to be when you grow up?”

I thought to myself, “I want to be a ballerina.”

I also recall many childhood memories of trying to persuade my friends to play roles in skits, ballets, radio stories, and imaginative games that I attempted to make and direct. Many of these “productions” took place in my backyard with mismatched costumes and toy or invisible props.

This desire to “move and make” followed me through high school and led me to complete a BFA degree in Dance Performance at the University of Kansas.

In addition to dance training, I developed my own choreographic style and creative process throughout my collegiate years. This creative process equipped me with the foundation to finally tell stories through movement, which often included the collaboration of dance and film.

Post-college, this common thread continued. I enjoyed a vibrant freelance career performing, choreographing, teaching, creating dance films, and working in the commercial industry as talent for television, print, and intranet.

My professional work for companies includes the United Ballet Theatre, Continental Ballet, Twin Cities Ballet, Delta Airlines, Best Buy, AMC Theaters, Shop HQ, MAC, Dillards, Farmer's Insurance, and more.

How It’s Going

Since June of 2023, I “retired” from my career as a professional dancer. However, my life’s still immersed in movement and storytelling. As a forever artist, I continue to work as a choreographer, dancepreneur, and commercial talent.

I love being outdoors, going to the gym, drinking a lot of sugar-free lattes, and being married to my wonderful husband, Jake!

Jake is also a performer, and he has led an exciting career as a professional opera singer (tenor). My husband and I are excited to embark on a new adventure of welcoming our first child. We're excited to see how our life and arts evolves upon starting a family.

Now, I am sharing my story and services to move talent and clients toward a life of momentum, growth, and innovation through my business, VG Talent & Services.

“I believe art is ultimately about serving people.

Good art adds value to our communities and allows people to communicate and celebrate the cycles of life in many diverse ways.

Art challenges us to explore our imaginations deeper, push the limits of creativity further, tell amazing stories, build awesome things, innovate solutions for others, and most importantly, declare the glory of God.”
